IB Middle Years Program

(
Ages 12 – 15, Grade 7 – 10)

IICS has been authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) to offer the Middle Years Program (MYP) since 1997. The MYP is a course of study designed to meet the educational requirements of students aged between 11 and 16 years. At IICS the MYP builds on the foundation of learning and skills in the PYP, and prepares students for the Diploma Program.

Grade 7-10 IB MYP students are at an age when they are making the transition from early puberty to mid-adolescence. This is a crucial period of personal, social, physical and intellectual development. The MYP has been devised to guide students in their search for a sense of belonging in the world around them.

It also aims to help students to develop the knowledge, attitudes and skills they need to participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. This means encouraging them to be independent learners and internationally minded people. MYP, like PYP and the Diploma Program, promotes the IB Learner Profile which encourages learners to strive to be: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.
