IB Middle Years Program (MYP)
IICS has been authorized by the International Baccalaureate (IB) to offer the Middle Years Program (MYP) since 1997. The MYP is a course of study designed to meet the educational requirements of students aged between 11 and 16 years. The IICS MYP program builds on the foundation of learning and skills in the PYP, and prepares students for the Diploma Program.
The IICS Middle Years Program guides our Secondary students in 7th – 10th grade. MYP students are at an age when they are making the transition from childhood to mid-adolescence. This is a crucial period of personal, social, physical and intellectual development. The MYP’s emphasis on reflection and action allows IICS students to better understand who they are as well as who they want to be in the future.
Knowledge is power. IICS MYP students develop the knowledge, attitudes and critical thinking skills needed to participate actively and responsibly in a changing and increasingly interrelated world. This means encouraging them to be independent learners and internationally minded people. The MYP, like PYP and Diploma Program, promotes the IB Learner Profile which encourages learners to strive to be: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.
