ADMISSIONS & ENROLLMENT

When does the application period open and when does it close?

IICS accepts applications year-round. Families planning for an August start are encouraged to apply between January and February, as certain grade levels fill quickly. Late applications are reviewed based on space availability.

Are there any limitations for admission?

As an international school, IICS cannot accept students who hold only Turkish citizenship and welcomes students of all other nationalities and educational backgrounds. Admission is based on age, previous school records, and learning support availability, with an English writing assessment required for Grades 6 and above.

Can students transfer into the school mid-year?

Yes. Students can join IICS at any time during the school year if spaces are available. Our Admissions and Academic teams support each student’s transition into the school.

What documents are required to complete enrollment?

Families will need to submit an online application form, upload the necessary documents to the application program: school reports for the last three years(if applicable), teacher references, copies of passports, and vaccination records. Additional documents may be requested depending on grade level or learning support needs. Our Admissions Office will guide you through each step.

Once the enrollment process is completed, how soon can our child begin at the school?

After all documents are submitted and tuition fees are processed, students may begin classes within a few days. Our admissions and academic teams coordinate start dates to help each child settle comfortably into their new class.

Can I visit the school? Do I need an appointment?

Yes, school visits are available on weekdays by appointment.

Families receive a personalized tour and admissions meeting, lasting about one hour.

ACTIVITIES, CLUBS, SPORTS & STUDENT LIFE

Does the school offer arts programs such as music, drama, and visual arts?

Yes, IICS offers a rich arts program that includes visual arts, music, drama, and design. Students participate in hands-on projects, performances, and exhibitions throughout the year, developing creativity and confidence.

Are there student exchange programmes or overseas trips?

IICS offers international learning experiences and trips to join CEESA tournemets for Secondary students. These vary each year and may include cultural exchanges, service projects, or curriculum-linked travel.

Is there mentoring/counselling support before and after graduation?

Yes. Students receive academic and personal guidance from counselors throughout their school years. High school students also receive individualized university counseling from our College Counselor to support their applications and transition to higher education.

Are field trips or educational excursions organized?

Yes. Students participate in curriculum-based trips, outdoor learning, and cultural experiences that connect classroom learning to the real world. Enrichment opportunities include athletics, clubs, camps, expeditions, and Türkiye cultural trips, fostering community, personal growth, and global awareness.

Do you offer after-school activities?

Yes. IICS offers a variety of after-school clubs including sports, arts, music, robotics, STEM, and creative activities. Options differ by grade level and semester.

EDUCATION

What accreditations does the school hold?

IICS is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) and is an IB World School offering the PYP, MYP, and DP. These globally recognized accreditations ensure high academic standards.

What are the credit and graduation requirements?

Students complete the requirements for the U.S. High School Diploma, with the option to pursue the IB Diploma Programme, AP courses, and/or the Global Impact Diploma. High school counselors guide each student’s program planning to meet university goals.

How does your attendance policy work?

Regular attendance is essential for academic success. Families are expected to inform the school of absences, and excessive or unexcused absences may affect course progress, especially in Secondary School.

What is the average class size?

Classes at IICS are intentionally small to support individual attention and active learning.

Each class has a maximum of 22 students, and our overall teacher-to-student ratio is 1:7, ensuring every child is known and supported.

Which language is used for instruction, and what other language options does the school provide?

All instruction at IICS is in English. Students also study French (Grades 2–5) and Turkish Culture & Language (EY5–Grade 5). In Secondary School, students can choose French or Spanish as a second language. We also offer IBDP level Korean A at school. This multilingual approach strengthens global awareness and communication skills.

Which curriculum does the school follow?

 IICS offers a globally recognized education with IB (PYP, MYP, DP), U.S. Diploma, AP, and IID pathways, preparing students for universities worldwide.

What if my child does not speak English? Is a certain level of English proficiency required?

We warmly welcome students from all language backgrounds. English language support is available up to Grade 10 to help students adapt and thrive. Students with minimal English may be accepted through Grade 6, while Grades 7–10 require a basic working level of English. In Grades 11–12, students must already be fluent to succeed in IB, AP, and IID courses.

Is there an entrance exam?

No formal entrance exam is required for students applying to Early Years 3–Grade 5. Students applying for Grade 6 and above complete a short online English writing assessment to determine the right placement and support level.

Is there a required uniform for the school?

No, IICS does not have a school uniform. Students should dress comfortably and appropriately for learning and activities.

FEES & FINANCIALS

Are lunch fees included in tuition?

Yes, IICS provides morning snacks and a freshly prepared hot lunch each day. Menus are published monthly on the Community Portal, ensuring families can easily review daily options.

Besides tuition, what additional fees are there (e.g., registration fee, materials fee)?

In the first year, families pay an Application Fee, Registration Fee, and Capital Levy Fee(Grade 1 and above). These are one-time fees and are not charged again in later years. Annual fees cover tuition, lunch, snacks, textbooks, and most school materials.

What payment options and installment plans are available?

Families may pay tuition annually or in installments. Detailed options are listed in the Tuition Fees document shared during the admissions process.

Is there an early-payment discount or any scholarship/financial aid program?

IICS offers an early-payment discount; however, there are no scholarships or financial aid programs. As a non-profit school, all tuition revenue is reinvested into educational programs, teacher development, and facilities.

Do siblings of current students receive discount?

Yes. The second child receives 5% off tuition, and the third and subsequent children receive 10%.

STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES

Does the school provide psychological counseling or support for students?

Yes. Qualified school counselors support students’ emotional well-being, social development, and academic needs. Families may also receive guidance when needed.

How does the school support new students adapting to the school environment?

IICS has a welcoming orientation process to help new students feel at home. Counselors, teachers, and student ambassadors assist with settling in, understanding routines, and building friendships.

Are students with disabilities accepted?

IICS is an inclusive school and accepts students when we can appropriately support their learning needs. The Admissions Team reviews documentation and collaborates with families to ensure the best possible learning environment.

Is there a language support programme for students whose English level is not yet sufficient?

Yes. English language support is available up to Grade 10. Support levels depend on the student’s age, English proficiency, and academic needs.

Are support services available for students with special learning needs?

Yes. Learning Support services are available for students who need additional help with academics, organization, or learning strategies. Individualized accommodations are provided based on assessment and teacher recommendation.

What is the school’s anti-bullying policy?

ICS has a zero-tolerance approach to bullying. All staff members actively monitor behavior, and counselors work with students to promote kindness, respect, and conflict resolution. Incidents are addressed promptly and sensitively.

OTHER

Does IICS have other branches in different countries?

No, IICS operates exclusively in Istanbul. However, our IB, AP, U.S. Diploma, and IID programs make transitioning to schools worldwide smooth and straightforward.

Is there a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)?

Yes. The PTA is an active, welcoming group of parents who support community events, volunteer programs, and family engagement. All parents are invited to participate.

What precautions are being taken for the safety of students?

IICS prioritizes safety through 24-hour security, controlled campus access, emergency preparedness training, and regular safety drills. Staff are trained to supervise students closely throughout the day.

Are school nurses or health services on campus?

Yes. Both campuses have qualified nurses on site. Nurses manage daily health needs, administer first aid, support students with chronic conditions, and communicate with families when needed.

Where are IICS teachers and students from?

Most teachers are native English speakers recruited from the US, Canada, and the UK. IICS has a diverse student body from over 70 different countries.

The largest nationality groups are the United States, South Korea, Germany, and Canada.

How many campuses does IICS have?

IICS has two campuses:

Hisar Campus (Rumeli Hisarı) – Offers Early Years 3 to Grade 3.

Marmara Campus (Büyükçekmece) – Offers Early Years 3 to Grade 12.

Students completing Grade 3 at Hisar Campus continue Grade 4 at Marmara Campus.

Does IICS have a dormitory?

No, IICS is a day school and does not provide accommodation.

What are the school hours?

Marmara Campus: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Wednesday (Early Release): 8:30 AM – 2:15 PM

Hisar Campus: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:15 AM – 3:15 PM

Wednesday (Early Release): 8:30 AM – 1:45 PM

Does IICS provide a bus service?

Yes, school buses are available to many areas in Istanbul.
